Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mithat Çelebi is a faculty member at Yalova University, specializing in biodegradable polymers, eco-friendly biocomposites, and enzyme-based treatment systems. His research focuses on the biotechnological conversion of agricultural and industrial wastes into high value-added products, the reinforcement of these wastes with polymers such as PLA, PHA, and PP to produce biocomposite materials, and the examination of their mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties.

He has contributed to numerous projects and publications on the development of sustainable materials using additives derived from biological sources such as pistachio shells, used frying oil, walnut shells, and shrimp waste.

Çelebi has served as a researcher and principal investigator in projects supported by TÜBİTAK and BAP. He is also actively involved in innovative application areas such as biodegradability testing methods, mulch film formulations, and eco-friendly membrane systems. Çelebi, as a member of the Zamia Kompozit R&D team, contributes to studies related to the execution and development of biodegradability tests.
